HENRY CLAUSSEN It is with deep sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Henry Claussen at his home on Friday, June 27 at the age of 70. Henry is survived by his wife Helen of 38 years; his sons, Michael (Melanie), Drew (Andrea) and daughter Tricia (Jerry) his special grandson Jack; and mother-in-law Grace Adamson of Gladstone, along with numerous extended family and friends. Henry was predeceased by his parents, his brother and sister in Germany. Henry was born in Germany where he took his trade to be a butcher, and came to Canada in 1954, and after several years went to Carnduff, SK to work. He then bought Reston Frozen Foods in Reston where he met his wife Helen and their three children were born and raised. They moved to Winnipeg in 1981. Henry worked tirelessly for his small town of Reston with the Lions Club, Hockey Club, Reston Theatre, rink board and being a school trustee. When the family moved to Winnipeg, he became the manager of Richmond Kings Community Centre for 12 years where he became deeply involved with the Fort Garry / Ft. Rouge Twins Hockey Association for many years. After retiring from there he worked for Winnipeg Minor Hockey as rink manager for Maginot Arena and the past year, driving for Pokeys vans of Fort Francis, ON. Henry was a devoted family man who loved his children, and his home and friends. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 1 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity United Church. Interment to follow at a later date. Donations can be made in Henrys honor to the Canadian Diabetes Association. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements, 775-2220.
